I’ve heard that a lot of men doing online dating are players. Is
that true? I just want to meet someone nice and form a
relationship. Am I the only one looking for love on the dating
sites?

I’m glad you wrote in because I’d like to dispel the
misconception that most men doing online dating are players.
There are many reasons why people date online. Some are truly
looking for a soulmate, some are looking for a committed
relationship, but maybe aren't ready to take that walk down the
aisle, and some find online dating as a good way to meet a lot
of dates very quickly. For “players,” online dating can be a
great place to play, so to speak.
The bottom line is that there are millions and millions of men
looking for love online. Not everyone is online dating to sleep
around. What you have to do is make sure that you read profiles
very carefully, email with potential dates for awhile, talk on
the phone, and get a good feel for who the person is before you
go out with him. If someone is a player, chances are he won't
waste time getting to know you before meeting you. He'll move on
to the next person in line. Or he’ll go out with you and if you
don’t “put out” then he’ll move on and you will be lucky that
you didn’t waste more time with him.
The point is that there are all types of daters online just like
there are all types of daters out at the bars or at any social
gathering. Keep going at online dating. There are thousands and
thousands of people how have met their soulmates online. You
just have to state your intentions clearly, protect yourself by
getting to know your dates, and use the good judgment you know
you have.
