It's OK to show a man your fears.
Just don't come across as "fragile".
Men, contrary to popular opinion, really do want to understand what a woman says, what she likes, what she doesn't like.
The hard part is that because men are so similar to women, and these things that are feared are so 'regular' that a guy tries to understand a woman's fears as if they were his own. So, the misunderstanding comes from a guy's 'interpretation' of these fears, likes and dislikes.
When talking to a guy, remember that he's a logical thinker, he's a fixer, he's social in that he's got to be "the king" of what is around him and it takes a lot of training for a guy to learn to share, not just provide.
And that's a big difference.
Men are born providers. They "hunt" and bring home the bacon, that is what society has taught us about men. But men are in a place now where they don’t have to provide always. They need to share, which is a new experience for most men.
One of the best, usually, types of understanding men you'll meet
is a guy that has a strong older sister, or a guy that has several
sisters and he was the only brother. These men understand the
concept of sharing from a woman's point of view, which is:
"It's OK to share. You're not losing anything when you share, you're
gaining emotional support when you share".
Emotional support from sharing, can you see how much of an insight this is?
Can you see how very far away this is from the men you have or had in your life?
And when you share with a man it's important to know that he wants to "fix things" so you need to be upfront and tell him "I just want to vent, don't tell me any answers. Let's just share this together". I promise you that if this is the guy for you, he'll understand what you say, how you say it and he will become the 'comforter' and put away the 'fixer' for the time being.
So reveal to him your fears and he will grow with you, together.
