Boarding School Blues
Dear RG,
I go to a private all-girls school. Worse still, I’m boarding too and am
sharing the same corridor with a couple of girls who don’t like me because
they resent the fact that I take tougher classes (and therefore am smarter),
am a runner (therefore trimmer) and have better taste in music than they do.
They make their dislike for me felt by doing annoying, little things that
most girls take fancy to when they’re being immature pains in asses like
slamming doors, stomping loudly along the corridor, playing techno music (*eurgh*)
loudly (they know full well that I can hear them through the door) and
throwing trash in front of my door. Once, those sick bitches even left a
bloody sanitary pad in my shower cubicle! I’m being completely honest when I
say that I have done nothing to provoke these girls except for that fact
that I am who I am and I can’t help that. I can understand why they don’t
like me because, hell, I don’t like me but that doesn’t give them the right
to be horrible to me.
I just want to let you know that though I sound like a snobby rich little
girl, I probably am but I don’t flaunt it. Everything that was ever given to
me I have worked hard for. I study hard, run hard and play hard…on the
track. I do my bit for the community and after that, I stay holed up in my
room doing my own thing. I’m a pretty quiet person and keep a lot of stuff
to myself and those girls know this and take full advantage of it. They know
that I’m emotionally vulnerable (I’ve been ‘diagnosed’ with severe
depression), physically vulnerable (some shrinks also think that I’m on the
verge of ‘anorexia atheletica’) and have problems with communicating with
other people.
But knowing this (the whole school knows I had a little breakdown a couple
of months ago in the middle of an exam) they still continue to give me hell.
They won't leave me alone. I know what they’re doing is petty and immature
but I feel victimized and I hate being so helpless. I’ve tried talking to
the boarding mistress and she’s spoken to them but nothing has changed. In
fact, they just made their tormenting more subtle and it’s really getting to
me. I would get them out of my life if I could but I’m an international
student who has no choice but to board.

I usually don’t indulge in this kind of activity as I believe that one
should only treat others as how they would like to be treated but this has
gone far enough. These girls should get what’s coming to them and I need you
to guide this amateur to getting them back (without getting me into too much
trouble, of course).
Some dirt about these girls:
-One of them smokes but usually off school grounds so the school can’t do
much about it.
-But just a couple of months back, they unscrewed some of the bars off the
windows and managed to sneak out late at night to smoke and do whatever crap
they do. But the maintenance guys found out and put it back on but nothing
was done to the girls as the school can’t prove they did it.
They sound pretty mild but that’s the best I can do as I try not to have
anything to do with those girls. But I hope they help anyway.

You’re right, these two should get whatever’s coming to them.
First off, do you have other friends that can cooperate with you?
I suggest buddying up with any other of the girls that are also being
tormented by this evil duo.
There is strength in numbers!
And watch these two carefully.
Do you have a cell-phone or digital camera?
I would really try hard to get pictures of these girls on one of the illicit
trips out of the school grounds.
Get them busted for that. Or any other activity that should be brought to
the head mistress’s attention.
As for the hallway disturbances, I’d take the higher road, also knowing that
they will bring about their own destruction soon enough!
Maybe it’s possible to get their names and numbers out to the local city
high schools?
It’s possible that you could get them some unwanted attention by having some
of the local kids call the school frequently for them.
If you ever get your hands on their cigarettes, shove a toothpick inside it,
from the tobacco end, let them smoke that!
Vaseline on the door knobs is a little simple but extremely satisfying.
