Revenge of The Fired And
Blacklisted

Dear RG,
I pored through your site looking for some advice on how to handle some ex-
coworkers but didn’t find anything that really would get the results I’m
looking for.
I *used* to work for a well known doctor in a large city. The office manager
has no previous experience managing people and the job fell in her lap when
the previous manager left. She is a HORRIBLE manager and is borderline
schizo in my opinion. She randomly yells at people and will not handle
staffing issues. She refuses to listen to legitimate complaints and work
related issues.
She is very close with the 22 year old girl that answers the phone and they
have a very inappropriate work relationship. I’ve had previous run-ins with
the younger girl because she likes to tell everyone else how to do their job
even though she has no degree, no previous medical experience, and barely
managed to graduate high school before having a child through a drunken one
night stand.
Patients were always complaining about her and praising me. I had called in
sick on a Monday (first time in 9 months) and when I showed up the next day,
I was being treated like a leper. Imagine my surprise when I came in to be
told I was being let go. Why I asked? Because I had been late to work 5
times in the past year. I asked to see my timesheet proving this. She showed
me quickly a page that had 5 highlighted sections. 3 of them were previously
scheduled absences (Dr Appts that were APPROVED!) and the other 2 were
clock-ins that were 2 minutes late. She also said that I had not made up
patient charts for the day before clinic. I explained that I had done the
entire week before I left Friday. It didn’t make sense that I would make
Tue-Fri and not Monday. I, of course, can’t PROVE that I did them.
Now I’m out the door and strangely relieved. I sent several applications out
but after the first interviews I wasn’t getting called back. I checked with
a friend at one place who told me that the receptionist was the one
verifying my employment and was saying nasty things about me. I filed a
complaint with the state but that moves slowly and I want to add a personal
touch to the sleazy office manager who unfairly fired me and her little
sidekick. I’ve thought about the magazine subscriptions and having porn site
emails done and whatnot, but it’s just not satisfying enough. Have any good
suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave (Just called me Blacklisted ? )
Hi
Dave,
I have to agree with you, porn emails are not enough, heck, they aren’t
even a good start.
Step one of your revenge:
Have a appointment with the boss, the doctor and have a real discussion
about why you were let go and the avenues of recompense that are available
to you. He should already be aware of the complaint you have lodged with
state employment and be willing to talk. Record everything. Write it all
down, keep a micro-recorder with you, turn it on.
As for a personal touch, if this was me, I’d stand outside the building
talking with patients. Have them sign a petition about how great a person
you were and how they feel badly for you being treated this way.
Create a little public commotion.
As long as you have an honest record you should bear this out well. Heck,
call a TV news station to watch your one-person protest.
And for complete revenge I'd overload the phone answerer with calls to the
awful manager with pleads for help from people that have read a poster you
put out offering high dollar employment with no experience. let her fend
that off for a while.
