Long distance relationship story:

I met Allan in December 2005 through my best friend who was at the time dating his cousin. Allan lives in the United States while I live in Kenya. During this time he was on holiday and had only a few days in the country.

Everything happened so fast. We had gone for a drink with my friend and her boyfriend (Allan's cousin). After some time, Allan joined us and we both felt comfortable with each other. It was like we had known each other for a very long time.

We exchanged phone numbers and started talking on phone and through text messages. When time allowed, he could pass by my house and we spent a lot of time together. Then one day, something happened and we kissed; the rest is history.

After a few days, we both had to face the painful truth. Allan was going back to the US and maybe we could never see each other again. By this time we were so attached to each other. When he left I felt like a part of me was missing and this was very painful for me. Then one day, a few weeks after his departure, I received an E-mail from him. This must have been the happiest day of my life.

Several months down the line, we are still in touch. We talk on phone every week and send each other photos through E- mail. Though many miles apart, our relationship is heading somewhere and Allan is coming home in November for one month as we look at the possible ways of sorting out the distance between us.

It is not always easy. I think about him a lot and sometimes I cry but I comfort myself that it is only a matter of time. Sometimes I also wonder if he feels he same way about me but whenever we talk on phone, I get assured. With LOVE, it is possible to keep the fire burning regardless of the distance. I am in KENYA, he is in the US but we both believe that one day it will all be fine.

Allan is such a fine guy and I can't wait to see him again.

Flo from Kenya
