This week's long distance relationship story
It all started a couple of years ago when I was
dating a man, whom I met while he was in the US working, from New Zealand. Well,
that long-distance relationship ended after a year and a half only due to that
fact that he wasn't ready for a committed relationship.
I do have to say that it wasn't easy, never knowing when we were going to see
each other again....if ever. Until, Malcolm.... I was dating a few men from my
area from an online dating service, since I don't go to bars or out very often I
figured I would give it a try. After a few months of that I decided to try the
New Zealand area just to see what happened. It wasn't until I decided to cancel
my online membership after only a few months that Malcolm from New Zealand
contacted me. His profile caught my eye and I returned his request.
To make a long story short, I was on a plane within a couple of months flying to
NZ to meet him and we just knew from the minute I came out those airport doors
and we caught each others eyes that it was love. He flew to the states six weeks
later and stayed a month with me... and proposed. I thought to myself, am I
ready for such another long distance relationship.... and the answer was yes.
Trust I believe is the key to keeping a LDR going, not to mention the late night
calls, emails, and text messages.... Just to say "I love you". Malcolm will be
moving over to the states within a year and we will be married within a few
months of that. If you know... truly know... that something is worth waiting
for, then it is. Even 6,000 miles away from each other and an ocean between us
but it still can't keep the love from growing and a bright future to look
forward too. Hang in there and keep reading all the LDR info you can find.
It really helps to keep the spirits up. From, A potato waiting for her Kiwi to
arrive.
