Michael W: One of the most important concepts to understand about the idea of being "cool" is that it's not this static thing, contrary to popular belief. What's cool in one situation is not cool in another.
This is why I am such a massive proponent of teaching attraction as a living, breathing thing that engages the particular situation and woman, and changes form depending on the situation, the person, and the environment.
The core principles, the goal, is always the same, but the way cool behavior is manifested changes depending on the situation.
So for example, there was one time where I left my car at home and was taking the city bus at about 1:30 at night. The bus just had a few people on it, and as soon as I boarded, I noticed this girl about 21 sitting all the way at the back.
From experience, I could already tell with about 98% accuracy that I was right, that she was a serious student, disciplined, not too wild on the surface, but a normal typical girl underneath the surface with a good sense of humor, and I also had a pretty solid bet even which university she attended and what she was studying.
I knew this from the knapsack, the proximity to the nearest university, the expression on her face, the psychology textbook, the Eastern European face, the fact that she was probably studying pretty late to be going home at this hour, the fact she most likely didn't have a car because she was a student, etc, etc.
I knew that she would likely act indifferent at first to any approach, because women are weary of strangers especially at night. I also knew that deep down, she probably would want nothing more than a break from all that schoolwork and she would appreciate a sense of humor, as long as it was all NOT assuming that I was expecting anything.
So the first thing I did was sit down, casually, one seat away from her, but beside her. Then, I casually turn my face to her, and tell her that the view from the back is the best, (the seats at the back of the bus are elevated, and you can see straight through the front window easily especially since the bus was pretty empty). I explain how it's pretty relaxing to watch the view at night from that point, and I'm being what I call "pretend serious in a purposefully obvious way".
