“You have a real delicate touch” is the straight-laced quote as Noah talk to his mom in the “Downtown Inn” bar in the movie “Smother“.
Dax Shepard, playing Noah, is just so cynical, and hard-luck-done-by that you have to laugh out loud at some great points of the movie. And the music by The Talking Heads adds a great background, familiar and sweet, to the entire movie.
Watch for multiple “Sammy Higgins” and Marilyn, Dax’s mother played by Diane Keaton, has the funniest line of the movie with “Don’t you want to see your mom naked?”
Why is this relevant, you ask? Simple. If you were as hard done by as Noah, with a wife that wants to get pregnant just as you lose your job, your mom moves in with her 5 adopted dogs all with the same name and your wife’s weird cousin drops in to stay for a while, you’d be pessimistic about your life too.
But that is a movie, a comical take on life that isn’t real. Reality is you, getting serious about your single status and wanting to do something about it.
That’s why you’re here, it’s why I’m here too. Great coincidence, eh?
