Friday’s Conversation Topics

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, week after week, the news never ceases to astound me. Not only the depths of idiocy but of crime and recklessness. This roundup of the past week’s news stories will certainly be great fodder for your conversations today and this weekend. Let’s start:

- Computer trojan spyware/virus steals more than $1 million dollars. The interesting part of this story is “While more than 280,000 compromised computers were running some variant of Windows, there were about 3,000 Macs running the exploit kit that were part of the botnet, along with about 300 PlayStations and seven machines running Nintendo Wii, the report found.” Infected Nintendo Wii’s set to steal your money? Really?

- Man grows per plant in his lung. Doctors assume that he “swallowed wrong” allowing a pea to end up in his lungs, sprout and growing to 1/2 inch. Better than a diagnosis of cancer any day, right?

- Power line pylons and the land of giants. You will be astonished by the architectural genius that goes into these high voltage electrical pylons. Maybe hard to describe in a conversation, maybe not. You could always print a picture of these landscape giants.

- Perseids meteor shower Thursday night. I hope you didn’t miss it!
