I Wonder: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

This is something to wonder about.

Love is contagious but if you aim this “love virus” at someone who is otherwise immune you not only end up with wasted effort but the “contagion” you had will have to rebuild its strength before it has the strength to strike again.

We each have personal experiences with rejected love. Whether we are eventually off-putted with a standard refusal of our advances and obsession or were ridiculed and rejected in a humiliating way, love was lost and our wounds were opened up and raw for a long time afterwards.

Some people attempt to immunize themselves against the love virus, refusing to become either a target for love or an arrow on the bow of Cupid. Their existence becomes robotic, cold and as predictable as a sunny day. But even sunny days can bring rain and when love strikes these people they can be so overwhelmed that they find new life shattering their solitary existence becoming forever changed.

I urge you to not hide from the effects of love but I wonder if anyone reading this will heed my warning.

For your personal ad headline try this today:
“Love may be eternal but love is also scarce, will you share yours with me?”

Have a great day!

Friday’s Conversation Topics

Match.com – View Singles in Your Area

Match.com – View Singles in Your Area

I work hard (well not any recent time in memory) but when I did work I searched high and low for the best news stories of the past week that would provide for you great conversational topics and openers. I’m almost completely back to work, just a while longer to heal (it’s a long story) and i should be good to get to it.

None the less, I offer you these top news stories to read and allow you to be prepared for a conversation with a new friend that will go beyond the usual exchange of a few niceties and then awkward silence. Let’s begin shall we:

- Mom Sells Baby for $15K Disney Trip: Cops – A new mom is in hot water after selling her newborn son for $15,000 so she could take her other two sons on a trip to Disney World, according to court documents. In late September, police got another tip that led them to the place where Wismer and Gavaghan met to finalize the deal… Well, this would usually be classified as “weird news” but…

- ‘I’ve become so good at the dating game I’m addicted to it’: Meet the matchmaking expert who cannot hold down a boyfriend. Hayley Quinn, who has helped teach 100,000 men how to seduce women cannot find a boyfriend for a reason that would have scandalised high society Georgians: she is addicted to casual flings…

- Self-reported drunk driving is down. (AP) The decline may be due to the down economy: Other research suggests people are still drinking as heavily as in years past, so some may just be finding cheaper ways of imbibing than by going to bars, night clubs and restaurants…

- Hacker Group Anonymous Threatens to Attack Stock Exchange. The FBI is investigating threats purportedly from the hacking collective that calls itself Anonymous to bring down the New York Stock Exchange on Monday by hacking into its computer system. Members of the notorious hacker group appear to be threatening to bring the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York to a dangerous new level, sounding a call to “declare war on the New York Stock Exchange” on Monday by “erasing” it from the Internet…

- Slutwalking into History. There seems to be a lot of slutwalking going on these days. According to news reports like this one, the protests that began in Toronto last month have gone global. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, the slutwalk protests aim both to reclaim the word “slut” from those who use it to try to shame women for being openly sexual creatures and to redirect that shame to where it belongs: aimed squarely at men who feel justified in sexually abusing women. The message is something like, “Fine, I’m a slut. Now, buzz off!” Fair enough, I’d say.

The Friday night conversation is alive and well, as long as you’re prepared. Have a great weekend!

Friday’s Best Conversation Topics

You can read and read but until you can speak intelligently no one will ever know if you’re smart or stupid. And if you’re stupid it’s best to stay silent. Read these articles, my selections as the best conversational news stories from the past week, and sound intelligent when it’s your turn to speak.

- US Embassy in Syria set upon by “thugs” – In this day and age, with our technology and the free flow of information, how does a government that has lost it’s “legitimacy” continue beating and killing it’s citizens? Aim a satellite over the country, broadcast freely the illegal actions of government forces and allow the people to have a voice in their own future, a voice that is heard by billions around the world, not just neighbors in the streets.

- Two sick days you can save up. If I knew I could have been a teacher and my union would demand these perks for my job… well, it’d be a whole different me, wouldn’t it? Two sick days a month you could save up, five paid professional days a year, summers off, or extra pay to teach summer school… the list literally goes on and on.

- “We will kill for oil” is one among other statements quoted by Libyan government officials reported this week. And i think they will kill and die for their oil. Sadly they will not do the same for life, liberty or countrymen. At what time will the rest of the world stand up to, and put an end to, this war?

- Pentagon loses large in cyber-attack. Yes, there is justification for enhanced computer networks because if the government cannot protect our information who will? Friday’s Best Conversation Topics

This week has outdone most of the weeks for 2011. The news stories and opinions that surfing around will bring to your attention could sustain you in conversations until 2012. Seriously. I’m not going to bore you with tales of the Casey Anthony trial (guilty on lesser charges) and the surprising release from jail, Facebook adds Skype video chat (small twirling of fingers in air), the fun conversations this weekend will center around these stories:

- Finding out you’re an asshole from an online dating service. OK Cupid member Sam Biddle finds a woman’s blog that has a personal review of himself and his interactions with another member of the site. Quite a terrible way to find out you’re a jerk. Time for some reputation repair, right?

- The Hobbit. Just in case it slipped your mind, the movies are scheduled for release December 2012. Yes, there will be a part one and two for Peter Jackson’s vision of J.R.R. Tolkein’s monolithic piece of fantasy. Bilbo, wait for me!

- Atlantis astronauts to recycle pee. Using a method called ‘forward osmosis’ brave space-persons will be able to pee in a bag and drink water later. Don’t be shocked, this recycling has been going on for a while, albeit using different methods. The international Space Station uses a system of recycling called the ‘Water Recovery System’ to reuse body fluid waste (pee). Well, you’d have to shoot me into space to want to drink any of that, I’m sure.

- Create a secure internet alongside the existing internet is the way to go. And I agree. if there was something like (dot secure) .secure and you had to prove that you were you, then safety online wouldn’t be such an issue. This idea would certainly change the things we do online and how we’d do them.

- Win A Baby. Now this is a lottery! Open to individuals and couples, straight, gay or elderly, anyone can win the top prize of $25,000.00 of fertility treatments. WTF?!?

Have a great weekend.

Beautiful People: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

You are as beautiful as you think you are, the trouble is your measuring scale is a slippery slope that depends on how you rate yourself against the people you are with, watching or simply thinking of.

Your beauty scale also includes the self-image you have of yourself, either pretty or geeky, slender or stubby, from the time – that moment in time – when you were comfortable with how others saw you or you simply accepted the criticism and moved on but kept that image alive in your mind’s eye for all these years.

So be easier on yourself, you’re better looking than you give yourself credit for.

And for my suggestion for your personal ad headline, try this:
“The best part of my life is starting now.”

Have a great day!

Life Lessons: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

You cannot learn for someone else.

You can learn with others, think of a classroom. That is learning with someone.

You can learn by example, think of parables and historical stories. That is learning from someone.

But someone else cannot learn something and, through osmosis or some other mystical transformation system, have that knowledge passed to you without effort, without the benefit of doing something yourself you will always know what you know and nothing more. Star Trek’s Spock might, humans cannot.

Everybody has to learn the lessons of life on their own. Everybody is responsible for making their own mistakes and hopefully, by taking their life lessons to heart and realizing the new proper path as their new life lessons has shown them what to do next that is right and can now also safely and with confidence in their new found future they can move their life forward.

Whew! A real mouthful that was.

But really, what you learn is all on your own with a minimal amount of interference from well-meaning friends and family members.

Notice that I haven’t stated what the personal crisis is… because it doesn’t really matter. Life lessons come by without warning. They often take your life on a violent turn through experience or a lifting of the blinders on your eyes.

Life is like that, as long as you know that you are the only one that can learn something for yourself then you will.

For your personal ad headline today tempt the other attractive singles with this:
“There Is Love With A Few Simple Words Here.”

Have a great day!

Boundless Possibilities: Dating Profile Headline of the Day

Find The One - Start With Your Free Compatibility Profile

Is the sun setting or smiling on you today?

Is the sun setting or smiling on you today?

Tuesday

The feeling of being let down keeps many people from trying to date at all, whether online or by trying to meet people in the physical world.

This is wrong because we cannot control how other people will react to us and by trying to avoid disappointment we invite it all the more into our lives.

Life is full of disappointment. We can go to the “glass half full argument” but when you’re disappointed in a person the world becomes a very hurtful place, regardless if the “other half of the glass” is happiness waiting to shine on your face.

We live in the moment and it’s in the moment that we judge and will be judged, that we rejoice in happiness and cry in disappointment.

It’s only the strong that will survive these muddy waters and if you don’t have the strength now you’ll have to find it later or perish into an unknowable hell of your own creation.

If the responsibility of your disappointment was 100% due to someone else then wouldn’t you feel no disappopintment at all, just that other person would feel the disappointment that should be felt? Indeed, it’s only because of your unreachable expectations (reasonable or not) does unhappiness and disappointment enter the picture at all. And it’s your disappointment, not theirs, that is felt.

That being said, it is your disappointment and your responsibility to feel this emotion or not.

So if you can control whether or not you will allow yourself to feel disappointment then you should have no fear of it.

With no fear comes boundless possibilities.

So, then, you should date. Click on that person’s profile, send that email, make that call and say hello to that stranger. Everything is possible for you and nothing wil disappoint you, unless you let it.

This, naturally, brings us to today’s dating profile headline suggestion:
“Boundless possibilities start with a simple hello.”

Have a great day!
