There are many myths regarding male sexuality
that aren’t examined in most medical journals: Do men prefer larger breasts?
Do men lie to get women into bed? Do all men love porn?
Here are some of the most common male sexuality
myths that the AM Great Male Survey will either prove or debunk.
Number 10
Men like big breasts
It is true that many men are fascinated with and love breasts, though this
may or may not refer specifically to big ‘uns. In previous studies it has
been shown that around 25% of men preferred large breasts; however, another
study contradicts this, giving a 65% appreciation rate of well-endowed
women. Studies on human sexuality often focus on attractiveness in general,
including breasts as part of the whole package along with intelligence,
symmetry and personality traits (such as a good sense of humor), so it is
not clear exactly how many men simply love big breasts.
Other studies have shown women mistakenly think men like bigger breasts more
than they actually do, and women believe other women prefer bigger breasts
more than they actually do. The general perception among women is that men
prefer larger breasts in a sexual partner, which explains why more and more
women are getting surgical breast enhancements. According to plastic
surgeons, however, they do as many increases as they do reductions. This
reinforces the idea that breasts are at least perceived to be an important
factor in sexual attractiveness.
The “deep-down inside” reasons supposed for men preferring large breasts is
A) Big breasts are a demonstration of fertility and the mammary abundance to
suckle offspring; and B) The “mother” factor (see Freud and suckling as an
infant, men are obsessed with boobs since they spent so long with their
mouths wrapped around them as babies).
Number 9
Men hate using condoms
Condoms are life-saving devices, but not all condoms are created equal.
Opinions differ between men and women regarding their value, but most people
generally agree that condoms are a bit of a pain. However, this being said,
part of their appeal is their safety, and fluid capturing qualities. Because
of the variations in opinion, AM has deemed it a necessary topic to discuss
in our Great Male Survey -- do men hate using condoms?
Number 8
Men lie to get sex
It is true that some men lie to get sex, but how many men do it? What kinds
of lies do they tell? A lie can be as simple (but as mean) as telling a
woman that you love her so that she’ll be bubbling with delirious happiness
and sleep with you right away (yeah, right), or as devious as, “No, I’m not
married” or “My Lamborghini is in the garage at the moment, so I had to
borrow my butler's car.”
It isn’t an honest representation and, if she found out, it would more than
likely cause more trouble than the sex (if you got any) was worth. Lying to
get ourselves places is part of being human. Deception for reproduction
could be blamed on our basic instincts. However, let’s not go there. The
results of our Great Male Survey provide us some clues as to whether men lie
much to get sex.
Some interesting studies performed at the Texas State University showed that
people lie all the time, every day in fact. People who don’t lie -- and tell
the truth no matter what the consequences -- often had very limited and
difficult social lives. However, the way men and women lied differed: Men
lied to make themselves appear more impressive (read, to make women want to
sleep with them), and women lied to save people from hurt feelings. It could
be assumed from this that people who tell the truth all the time hardly ever
get laid.
