REGIFTING: The act of giving to someone a gift that you had previously received.

While we all receive useless gifts (remember that 2 cup blender?) it's not a great idea to simply stuff them in the back of your closet, in the attic or some cubbyhole somewhere.

We are in the "Green Millennium" Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

So, (you can tell yourself) regifting is a perfectly "green" way to maintain the environment and give a great gift, that you can't use, to someone that can.

There are some very specific rules to REGIFTING:

• Always rewrap the gift in different wrapping paper
• Remember who gave you the gift in the first place, you don't want to accidentally give it back to them
• Make sure the item is still under warranty or, that being unknown, make sure the item works
• Don't tell someone that you are actually "regifting", they don't need to know and you don't need to tell
• Regifts should be new items, not something that you no longer have a use for, such as old clothes or electronics (unless the person already knows about it)
• Some gifts should never be regifted such as food, music CDs, clothes (unless it really suits the person and is still in the never worn state), software and old board games. Many items are significant for their debut on the shelves so you don't want to give someone something that's no longer available unless it really does suit them
• Remember, what you give you may receive as well. You can always eBay the object and use the cash to buy something a little nicer

Always remember, when deciding whether to regift or not to regift, think about why the person originally thought you could use it (whatever it is) and reghift accordingly!
