For a serial killer movie this is rather tame. But you'll like to draw out instances that are the inspiration of newer slasher flicks. Good for conversation and lack of horrorific scenes.

Ed Gein is the inspiration of so many horror and slasher flicks that it's hard, if not impossible, to discuss the film without drawing on comparisons from elsewhere. But I'll try. The start introduces you to a mild-mannered if not slow-witted type that draws on childhood events and a over-bearing religious mother's love to become one of the monsters of the modern age. The film touches on this background, it draws you into Gein's recent events and leads you through the creation and everyday life of a serial killer.

The film is not a slasher flick with blood and gore everywhere, although it does have killings and odd little bits of human bodies about. Watch for the bed frame with heads as corner posts and dried heads "from the war" hanging on the back of the door.

The movie moves forward only because that is where it has to go. Don't be fooled about a story of Ed Gein in all it's horror. Although the path is there, the story doesn't travel that way.  - Robert Lee, aLoveLinksPlus.com reviewer
