Long
Distance Love Tools
It's hard
to keep love alive when there are hundreds of miles, maybe
thousands and even a few time zones, but to keep the cost
you pay for love down, and to save money on every day
telephone expenses, I want to introduce you to SKYPE.
Skype is a
VoIP internet based telephone service that is Windows and
Mac compliant (can be used by both types of computers and
their different operating systems.
Personally I use Skype to make contact with my business
colleagues in Britain (I am on the Pacific coast in Canada).
As long as I remember that they are 8 hours ahead of me, I
can easily schedule a time to call and not be phoning a dead
office and especially not be paying exorbitant long distance
charges.
F or
instance, the other day I had to call a contact in London,
England and the call lasted about 45 minutes. What did I pay
for the call through Skype? About $0.92 CDN. Cheap… my local
phone account would have cost me $1.75 a minute, or about
$78.00 CDN…. Wow… and I have lots of international minutes,
unlimited calls to long distance numbers in Canada (my
family is all over the place) and to the United States
(where even more of my family lives). I save a bundle with
Skype and I'm sure that you will too.
Many people
think that there are problems with computer-to-phone calling
systems but as long as it's not a 911 emergency call you are
making then you'll be very satisfied with the quality and
the cost of using Skype to manage your long distance costs.
For feature
friendliness you can also buy Skype ready phones and other
hardware such as wireless phones that are connected to your
computer but the handset is not so you can conveniently call
from any room in your house using Skype and not be tied to
your computer. Take a look at available hardware here (Skype
store ) or at your local department or electronics store.

Who is Skype and
how we work
Skype Technologies has created the world's leading global
internet telephony and communications platform. Browse through
the "News" section on our website and you'll get a sense for how
we move - FAST. The excitement around Skype is unmatched and our
software is catching on faster than anything before in computing
history. With over 100 million downloads of our product, nearly
everyone knows someone who is talking for free, or at cheap
local rates, no matter where or when they call.
The true beauty of Skype is its simplicity - simplicity which
extends right down to getting that conversion. It doesn't get
more straightforward than this - a user downloads Skype within a
few seconds and starts making calls for free anytime over the
net with other Skype users. With a registered user base of
already 33 million people it’s certainly not hard to find
someone to speak to, and with more than 150,000 new users
joining every single day, it won't be long before everyone is "skyping".
SkypeOut lets you call landlines and mobile phones,
outside of Canada and the USA, around the
world at local rates and users can buy credit in units of €10 or
€25. Why would someone want to call a normal landline or mobile
phone when you can make a call for free? Well for one, you might
want to call someone that hasn’t downloaded Skype yet. We do
have 33 million registered users, but the world’s a big place,
so there are still many people that only use their normal phone
lines. Second, even if you’re calling another Skype user, they
might not have access to an internet connection at the time you
would like to call.
SkypeIn gives you a personal number so that friends can call you
on Skype from their old-fashioned phones, wherever you connect
around the world. A SkypeIn number costs €10 for 3 months or €30
for a full year and comes with free Skype Voicemail. Why would
someone want to get a SkypeIn number? Again there are many
reasons. Perhaps you would just like a cheap additional phone
line, for business or pleasure. And for those that travel a lot
or find themselves away from home often, there is even more
reason. Choose a SkypeIn number with what you would call a
“local” area code and your friends and loved ones can call you
anywhere in the world for the price of calling that area – and
for you there are no roaming charges! Just your flat price for
the number.
Skype Voicemail lets you pickup messages when you’re offline,
away from your computer… or just ignoring people. In addition
you can send voicemails directly to other Skype users for those
times when you need to express something in words but perhaps
don’t have time for a conversation.
